چکیده
The article presents a cross-cultural study of take-over performance in highly automated driving. As is an important measure safe driving, potential cultural differences could have implications for the future development vehicles. was conducted two culturally different locations, Seattle, WA (n = 20) and Ljubljana, Slovenia 18), using driving simulator. While participants voluntarily engaged secondary tasks. request (TOR) triggered at specific time during drive, type response (none, brake, steer) were measured each participant. Results show significant between locations. In Seattle 30% did not respond to TOR; remaining 70% responded by braking only, compared Slovenian who all either or steering. Participants from significantly more slowly TOR (M +1285 ms) than participants. Secondary task engagement also had effect, with distracted US participants’ taking longer +1596 Reported may indicate behavior trust

The Influence of Driver Fatigue on Take-over Performance in Highly Automated Vehicles
Research Question/Objective: Current advanced driver assistant systems combine the strengths of a human driver with the benefits of technical advancements. By raising the vehicle automation level, new human factors challenges emerge. Considering level 2 automation, where the driver is required to continuously monitor the system and remains responsible for vehicle safety, automation effects like...
متن کاملThe Effects of Vibration Patterns of Take-Over Request and Non-Driving Tasks on Taking-Over Control of Automated Vehicles
Automated vehicles offer the possibility of significantly increasing traffic safety, mobility, and driver comfort, and reducing congestion and fuel emissions. Current automation technology, however, remains imperfect, and in certain situations, automation will still require the driver to suspend non-driving tasks and take back control of the automated vehicle in a limited period of time. During...

This article discusses eight repetitions of a business take-over game. The game’s aim is to act as a vehicle for research into electronically mediated cross-cultural negotiation and as a training tool. During the game, three teams of four persons play the management teams of three companies, one of which is a daughter of the second that may be sold to the third. In four of the repetitions, the ...

It is often said that if P = NP then we could many solve many important problems efficiently, such as automatically finding bugs in circuits. Of course this is not automatic since it may be that the fastest we can solve SAT is n time. This essay, inspired by Russell Impagliazzo’s “robots take over the world” lectures, which in turn were inspired by discussions with Steven Rudich, will explore o...
